1. The Great Mystery

Ephesians 5:31-32 NLT
As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” [32] This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.

Ex: Isaac & Rebekah

👉🏼 We are the bride of Christ!

2. The Life Before

(Hari’s forwarded pic)

Ephesians 2:1-3 NLT
[1] Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. [2] You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil-the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. [3] All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

Ex: Personal Life, before marriage

👉🏼 We are saved from a life of disobedience.

3. The Unifying force

Ephesians 2:4-5 NLT
[4] But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, [5] that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

Ephesians 2:6-7 NLT
[6] For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. [7] So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

Ex: Boaz & Ruth

👉🏼 We are transformed by his love, mercy and grace.

4. The Implications

Ephesians 2:14,21 NLT
[14] For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. [21] We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.

Galatians 3:26-28 NLT
[26] For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27] And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. [28] There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Ex: The first century church

👉🏼 We are joined together as one body in Him.

5. The Significance

1 Corinthians 6:15-17 NLT
[15] Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never! [16] And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.” [17] But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.
